Â
When you go through the archway, you see a large lawn in front of you. To your left there is a nice cafe' you can sit in or outside with a drink and a snack. We always go for a hot chocolate and cake when we first arrive.
Just past the cafe' there is an ice cream parlour. We've never tried it so we can't tell you what it's like. To the right of the archway is a gift shop. It's quite good as there are lots of things you can buy. We often end up with something from there.
The beautiful house
To get to Wallington Hall, you go across the other side of the lawn. There is a wall and so you go through a gate. When you go through, the front of the Hall is to your right.
Wallington Hall is beautiful inside with it's beautiful rooms, archways and wall paintings. There are plenty of great photo opportunities. Here is one of the central hall.

A Must See
Wallington Hall

Â
When we come out, we usually head off down, away from the front of the house, toward our favourite pond. However, if you wish, you can follow the path the other way past the back of the Hall. This takes you toward the other two smaller ponds.
The relaxing walk and our favourite pond
To go to our favourite pond, you walk down the path away from the front of the Hall. As you get near the road, you will see four stone sculptures of griffins.

Â
Safely cross the little road and go through the gate on the other side. The path takes you through the trees. We find this walk so relaxing.
There is a path going left and one that goes straight on. If you go left, it will take you past a tree trunk lying down with some beautiful carvings on it. It's quite something. This is also near a pond called, The China Pond.
To get to our favourite pond we follow the path straight on, instead of going left. It is called the Garden Pond. It is truly beautiful and is great for photographers. It looks amazing. You can walk all the way round the pond. If you fancy a sit down, you will find a bench or two.

Â
There are also various birds there, including this beautiful one here.

On one side of the pond there is also an owl sculpture. It's a great work of art. It's truly a lovely place to be.

The Walled Garden
At the far end of the pond, there is one of the popular attractions of Wallington Hall, the Walled Garden. This is the reason it's called, The Garden Pond. If you like beautiful flowers, then this is definitely the place to go and see. When you see it, you'll go wow. It definitely took our breath away. This garden also has another garden within called, The Secret Garden.

This is such a lovely place to come to. It's definitely a full day out for the family.
It's run by the National Trust. So it's free if you are members.
There are lots of things to do. There is Wallington Hall itself to go into and there are lots of places to walk. It really is quite beautiful. It is dog friendly. The only place you can't take your dog is into the house. So what we do is put him in the car and open the window a bit to keep him cool and give him plenty of air.
The place we love the most is the ponds. There are four all together. Two are found behind the hall and the other two larger ones are down from the front of the hall. If you're photographers, like us, there are plenty of great photo opportunities.
There is plenty of parking. As soon as you arrive you can see how beautiful the place is. From the car park you follow a path through the trees which takes you up an archway which goes under a lovely clock tower.

Â
We normally go round the pond and go back the way we came in. Then just a little way up the path there is a path that branches off to the right. This takes you up to the China Pond and the tree sculptures.
There is plenty more places to see at Wallington. For example, there is a path that takes you down to Wansbeck River. We haven't done this walk yet but we will do it in future.
Our verdict
We absolutely love this place and we're sure you will too. It's great for somewhere to relax. It's dog friendly, apart from inside Wallington Hall. If you have kids, I know they'll love it. We always see people with their children there.
