Northern Ireland
Unfortunately, they didn't know what mural we were describing. So we never did see it.
We decided to take a look around and paid the small entrance fee. I'm sorry to say, we both thought it a total waste of time. However, on the way out, a different man at the desk did tell us a lot about the walls and the 13 apprentices that saved Derry from King James II.
Day 5
Derry and it's magnificent walls
The city and walls are a must to see.
After we parked up, we walked across the peace bridge. This bridge is a work of art and crosses the river Foyle.
As we got to the other side, we were interested in seeing one of the many murals that appeared around the city. As we wandered around trying to find it, a helpful lady came over and asked what we were looking for. She was unsure of our explanation and so directed us to a museum around the corner where they would be able to help.
We had a nice walk around the walls. We didn't go all the way round. If you do, it's about a mile. But we found it interesting. You also get a lovely view of the city. So well worth seeing.
Lastly, we found a lovely cafe'. It was busy and full of local people.
Apart from the walls, you'll also find plenty of interesting buildings, quaint shops and picturesque streets.
We absolutely loved our mini-break in Northern Ireland. We're missing it already. We will definitely go back as there are many places we didn't have time to explore. When we do, we will add our experience on the website.
