This park is really lovely. Lots of beautiful flowers. There is a large clock made totally out of flowers and a statue of a lady called, Emily Wilding Davison. If you want to just sit and relax, there are a few benches.

We found there are paths in the park that lead you on nice walks. This day we decided not You can decide which side of the river you want to walk on as there is a wooden bridge.

A wonderful cafe' in an unusual place

After the park, we stumbled across a cafe' that is in an unusual place. We will definitely go here again. This not your normal bustling boring cafe'.

It's somewhere you wouldn't expect to find it. It's across the road from Carlisle Park. The cafe' had only been open for five months when we found it. We heard someone say it reminded them of Morocco. Maybe it was the lampshades.

The whole place took my wife's breath away. It's situated inside what we called, an Aladdin’s Cave. You will find it inside a large building called, the Morpeth Court House. Inside, there are three levels. The cafe' is on the top level.

The reason we call it Aladdin’s Cave is because are two levels below filled with antiques and lovely items on sale. Many are low cost and there are also more expensive items. After we had our relaxing drink, we couldn't resist looking at all the wonderful things there. You can literally spend hours looking around.

When you get up to the cafe', it's like on a balcony which overlooks the levels below. The cafe' area has two levels you can sit in and so there are plenty of seats. It's called, Courthouse Cafe'.

The first thing we loved was how friendly the owner was. He wasn't just all about business. You can tell he likes people and we enjoyed our little chat. He made us feel really welcome.

They do a good range of drinks and also had on display some tantalising cakes. So we ordered our drinks and took a seat. The seats were very comfortable, unlike those hard seats you normally find in a cafe'.

A girl came over with our drinks. We really enjoyed them and can definitely recommend them. Which means something as we are both particular about our drinks.

While we sat, we noticed two people had ordered scones. We heard them say they were delicious so we ordered one too and shared it between ourselves. They were right. They were delicious. They had butter, jam and cream and you could tell they were homemade. Yummy!

Here's the empty plate.

Something worth mentioning is if you are dog owners, as we are, you'll like the fact the place is also dog friendly.

We sat and chatted and just enjoyed the quiet. There wasn't lots of noisy people or children running about (not when we were there anyway).

At one point, I looked up and noticed the ceiling. I don't normally take photos of ceilings. However,

this time I did.

So next time you're in Morpeth and want a drink, you won't be disappointed if you visit this lovely little

cafe'.

The river and the boats

We came out of the park and walked over the road bridge, crossed over the road at the roundabout and walked up Bridge Street where we explored the nice shops. There are plenty of these including cafe's and charity shops.

We carried on up the street and turned left at the mini-roundabout just past what we know is the registry office. We walked all the way down the bottom of that road until we reached the river.

It's lovely there. We sat for a while and watched people out in boats. You can hire these right there at the side of the river.

Just to mention, if you have children with you, there is a children's play and paddling pool across the footbridge.

By the way, if you like Chinese food, there is a cabin at one side of the car park, just left of the footbridge. This sells Chinese takeaway. Debbie has had food there many times and highly recommends it. Debbie says the food is out of this world.

Another bridge worth seeing

We walked past the Chinese takeaway cabin and followed the road along the river. We carried on all the way until we saw a little cafe' called, The Chantry Tea Rooms. This wasn't open but it looked nice. So maybe next time we'll take a look in.

We turned right at the cafe' and came to another foot bridge. This was very nice. We stood there a while and enjoyed watching the swans and ducks down below.

We know there are plenty of other places to see in Morpeth. However, we will see these another day as we ran out of time.
