So next time you're in Morpeth and want a drink, you won't be disappointed if you visit this lovely little
cafe'.
This is not your normal bustling boring cafe'. It's somewhere you wouldn't expect to find it. We discovered this when we went to Carlisle Park in Morpeth. The cafe' had only been open for five months when we found it.
It's situated inside what we called, an Aladdin’s Cave. You will find it inside a large building called, the Morpeth Court House. Inside, there are three levels. The cafe' is on the top level.
The reason we call it Aladdin’s Cave is because the two levels below are filled with antiques and lovely items on sale. Many are low cost and there are also more expensive items. After we had our relaxing drink, we couldn't resist looking at all the wonderful things there. You can literally spend hours looking around.
When you get up to the cafe', it's like on a balcony which overlooks the levels below. The cafe' area has two levels you can sit in and so there are plenty of seats. It's called, Courthouse Cafe'.
The first thing we loved was how friendly the owner was. He wasn't just all about business. You can tell he likes people and we enjoyed our little chat. He made us feel really welcome.
They do a good range of drinks and also had on display some tantalising cakes. So we ordered our drinks and took a seat. The seats were very comfortable, unlike those hard seats you normally find in a cafe'.
A girl came over with our drinks. We really enjoyed them and can definitely recommend them. Which means something as we are both particular about our drinks.
While we sat, we noticed two people had ordered scones. We heard them say they were delicious so we ordered one too and shared it between ourselves. They were right. They were delicious. They had butter, jam and cream and you could tell they were homemade. Yummy!
Here's the empty plate.
Not your usual boring cafe'
Something worth mentioning is if you are dog owners, as we are, you'll like the fact the place is also dog friendly.
We sat and chatted and just enjoyed the quiet. There wasn't lots of noisy people or children running about (not when we were there anyway).
At one point, I looked up and noticed the ceiling. I don't normally take photos of ceilings. However,
this time I did.
